After months of rumors and reports, Mortal Kombat 1 has finally been unveiled with a release date scheduled for September. While we haven’t seen any real MK1 gameplay yet , fans can now start preparing for their first chance to play the title in just a few months.
Check out the game trailer below:
On the official Mortal Kombat website, NetherRealm Studios has detailed that the Mortal Kombat 1 beta will arrive roughly a month before its August 2023 launch. It will only be available to those who pre-order the game, which is not surprising. Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders are set to go live today, May 19. In addition to getting access to the beta, those who pre-purchase MK1 will also receive Shang Tsung as an exclusive character.
Perhaps the only downside to this planned Mortal Kombat 1 beta is that it won’t be taking place on all available platforms. It will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This means that computer gamers in particular have been left out in the cold for the time being. It remains to be seen whether WB Games will change its mind, but those looking to pre-order MK1 for a platform other than PlayStation and Xbox should know this before they do.
Mortal Kombat 1 is due to be released later this year on September 19. When it hits store shelves, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
