The protagonist goes to distant Ruthenia, where he is to serve Princess Ludmila and protect her from all evil. Something is waiting for the woman’s life, so the inquisitor will have to face a completely alien threat to him. He will also be forced to abandon some of his inquisitor instincts, because Lyudmila asked for help from a witch living in the swamp, with whom Mordimer will be forced to cooperate.

Different world 

Reading the latest part of the Inquisitor Cycle, you get the impression that it places a much greater emphasis on the supernatural. Of course, they also appeared in previous volumes, but never in the foreground. It is a very sensible solution due to the place of action, which are the Pechora marshes. At this point, the legends about the monsters that inhabit them are still alive. The world of Rus is full of superstitions, about which we can learn from the novel. For me, there was no more elaborate description of Ruthenian culture. Mordimer himself is not quite the same character that we got to know well in other volumes. He has definitely less experience, but his confidence and heightened senses of the protagonist are still in the foreground. He is not like the sarcastic and somewhat bitter man in later stories. The events in Rus will, however, be so important that in the future they will certainly affect the character of the hero and the perception of the surrounding reality. Occasionally, we may experience an inquisitor’s sense of humor. In the book you can feel the lack of detailed love scenes, instead of them we have subtle romantic inserts, which for me is an advantage of the novel. The new setting is full of dangers and secrets, and Mordimer will have to face new situations to which he has not yet got used to. He has to face new challenges if he wants to fulfill his duty to the Duchess. The book was very pleasant to read, and the plot drew me a lot.Soul Hunters . A few words about the release

Fabryka Słów has already accustomed its readers to well-published books where everything is buttoned up to the last button. While reading, I did not notice any glaring errors, and the cover, depicting an inquisitor with a halo, looks good.

Me the Inquisitor. Cursed Lands turned out to be a successful novel with an interesting plot, lots of action and a pinch of humor. It is a book that may prove to be a good point to begin a closer acquaintance with the Inquisitor Cycle. Readers have no choice but to wait for the already announced sequel and hope that we will soon learn more about the events that have shaped this world.
