“Mononoke” returns in a new trailer from Twin Engine!

The anime Mononoke is about to make a big comeback . In 2022, Twin Engine shared with fans plans to revive the title in film form. Now we’ve got a trailer that highlights the iconic and colorful aesthetics of the game.

The trailer of Mononoke shows that Twin Engine puts a lot of effort into this project. The revival of the anime will bring the famous Drug Seller back to the screen. The hero will have to face all sorts of ghosts and supernatural problems.

For those unfamiliar with Mononoke , it’s worth mentioning that the original anime was created by Toei Animation. Directed by Kenji Nakamura, the anime debuted in 2007 and lasted one season. In recent years, fans have strongly clamored for the series’ return, prompting Twin Engine to take over the title on its 15th anniversary. The main character will be voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya. The official plot synopsis reads as follows:

In feudal Japan, evil spirits known as mononoke plague both households and the countryside, leaving a trail of fear in their wake. One mysterious person has the power to kill the mononoke where they stand; he is known only as a medicine seller and defeats ghosts with the power of his exorcism sword. However, in order to draw his sword, he must first understand Form, Truth and Mind mononoke. Armed with a sharp wit and a keen intellect, the Medicine Seller wanders from place to place, slaying evil spirits behind him.

The series is currently available on Netflix and Crunchyroll. At the moment, we are waiting for more information about the film itself, which is scheduled to debut in 2024.
