Epic The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies directed by Oscar-winning Peter Jackson will debut on October 27 in a completely new version as Middle-earth. A complete collection in the highest quality 4K UHD and newly remastered Blu-ray discs

The 31 discs feature theatrical and extended versions of all 6 movies with commentary from the creators. The edition also includes an exclusive bonus disc, a 64-page guide with costumes sketches, photos and production notes, as well as 7 unique collectible cards. All this has been placed in a beautiful package that cannot be missed on the shelf of a true fan of Middle-earth.

The film adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s best-selling trilogy in Jackson’s masterful take, presents the epic journey of humans, hobbits, elves, dwarves and other creatures and cultures inhabiting Middle-earth. It is a chronicle of the fight between good and evil, enriched with fantastic special effects and a strong emotional layer.

Out of 30 Academy Award nominations, The Lord of the Rings trilogy received 17 Oscars. In addition, the third installment in the series, The Return of the King , won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and eight other awards.

Peter Jackson’s three-part blockbuster production, which took 281 million dollars to shoot and 8 years of work, turned out to be a huge commercial success (in the cinemas alone, the films earned almost 3 billion dollars) and artistic success, as evidenced by the awarding of 17 Oscars (11 of which were won by the last part The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ).

No wonder that after the huge success of The Lord of the Rings, the producers very quickly thought about bringing the Hobbit to the big screen as well . Preparations for production began in 2008, and Guillermo del Toro, an Oscar-nominated Mexican, was selected as director of the project. Unfortunately, when, after two years of preparation, work on the film was still not started, del Toro resigned and was replaced in the director’s chair by Peter Jackson (originally he was only supposed to be a producer and screenwriter).

I was convinced that “The Lord of the Rings” was a unique experience, unique in my life, and I did not think that I would return to Middle-earth again. It turned out, however, that you can have a unique life experience twice – commented on his decision Jackson.

Filming for The Hobbit finally began on March 21, 2011 in New Zealand. Originally planned as a diptych, the production eventually turned into a trilogy, which aroused controversy among some fans. Jackson, together with the other screenwriters, explained this decision by the volume of the script, in which, in addition to the events described in Tolkien’s novel, there were also plots based on over 100 pages of footnotes, significantly expanding both the history of Bilbo and his friends, as well as Middle-earth itself.

One of the biggest challenges faced by the Hobbit writers was filming the book so that its screening would be an integral part of the stories and the world previously shown in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

It was very important for us to closely tie the two trilogies together. Our most important intention was that the audience could watch the six films as a logically developing saga, also consistent in terms of building tension and climate , says director Peter Jackson.

The new release of productions from the world of Middle-earth will allow viewers to watch their favorite films in the highest quality visuals and enjoy unique special materials.
