On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company, there was an interesting juxtaposition of two different worlds. Now fans of Marvel and cartoon Disney characters have special covers that present Mickey and his friends as superheroes.
Celebrating Disney’s 100th birthday, the iconic Mickey Mouse enters the Marvel Universe ! October 16 this year marks exactly 100 years since the founding of the Walt Disney Company, and a year-long celebration is planned to commemorate this historic moment. Marvel Comics will also contribute to the event with special comic book covers called the Disney100 Variant Cover Program. There are iconic characters from the original Disney fairy tales, i.e. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and many others. Three new covers feature Mickey and friends portraying Marvel superheroes. The covers themselves refer to the most recognizable Marvel numbers. Mickey and co., among others they assume the role of the Avengers, while Black Peter as Thanos wields the Infinity Gauntlet.
Three Disney variant covers celebrate Marvel’s past, present and future with a What If? . This resulted in new cover versions for 90s Infinity Gauntlet , 2000 ‘s New Avengers #1 , and Invincible Iron Man . The first asks the question, ‘What if… Mickey and friends had to save the universe? The second is, ‘What if Mickey’s friends became the Avengers? Finally, there’s the third cover and, ‘What if… Miki was the invincible Iron Man?’

There will be a total of 12 Disney100 series covers , and as an added bonus, they will also be available in black and white. Each subsequent month of 2023 is the premiere of a new variant.
