Michonne is one of the most recognizable characters in the series “The Walking Dead”. This role was played – as is known – by Danai Gurira. After season 10, news came that the actress (and the character with her) was leaving the show. It caused disbelief and sadness for many fans. We have good news! Michonne is back!
Michonne is a favorite character of many fans of the series. It appeared at the end of the second of the ten seasons so far. Character actress Danai Gurira joined the cast in 2012 and immediately won the hearts of viewers with her original beauty, character and talent.
The actress, born in 1978, with roots in Zimbabwe, comes from Iowa. Not only is she a great performer, she’s also making a career as a Broadway playwright. For one of the plays, Eclipsed, she was nominated for a Tony Award. In addition to the series about the living dead, she also appeared in the movie Black Panther, or two parts of Avengers. She played in The Walking Dead until 2020, after which she gave up the role to devote herself to other endeavors, including a career as a playwright.
However, it had been rumored before that Michonne’s character did not disappear forever. There was an opportunity to spinoff with her in the lead role or to participate in a full-length film. The best-informed content director Scott Gimple said:
Of course. Yes, you’ll see Michonne.
And he added:
We’ll be telling stories from Michonne again. Her ending on the show was in many ways the beginning of the story.
I don’t think anyone imagines anyone but Danai in this role. As we found out, the producers keep the doors open to her. The next season of The Walking Dead is announced for the beginning of 2021.
