While Keaton’s Batman was originally scheduled to appear in The Flash , the plan was transferred to Batgirl , and things would go according to plan from then on. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly forced to cut costs drastically and thus change its strategy by focusing on producing cinematic films. As a result of these changes, Batgirl suffered , the premiere of which was canceled in the final stages of production.
All we currently know is that Bruce Wayne will appear in the new film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom , and will be played by Justice League star Ben Affleck. This raises the question of whether Keaton can still count on a return? It turns out that the actor himself does not know the answer to this question.
Keaton’s comment is not surprising, in the end let’s remember that DC is in a rather turbulent situation at the moment. Even The Flash is currently at risk, due to the release date being postponed several times, but also accusations against the main actor, Ezra Miller, which of course hurt the brand’s image.
Michael Keaton starred in the 1989 movie Batman and its 1992 sequel, Batman Returns . In the canceled Batgirl , she would be presented as a mentor to Gotham City’s new generation of heroes. It was even said that Batman Beyond , which was discussed several times earlier, would eventually be created and crown the story started in Batgirl . In turn, the president of Warner Bros. Discovery David Zaslav has indicated that they want to focus on DC’s greatest heroes, which could also see the return of the Justice League. In any case, the vision of 70-year-old Batman supporting superheroes from the back seat may not fit in with today’s corporate goals.
