Merry Little Batman is an animated film created by Warner Bros. Animation. The story will follow the epic adventure of Batman, Alfred Pennyworth and young Damian Wayne as they work together to save Christmas in Gotham City.
Yonas Kibreab stars as Damian, with the voices of Luke Wilson, James Cromwell and David Hornsby. Voice recording and writing ended before the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike and the since-ended writers’ strike.
Mike Roth directs the production from a script by Morgan Evans and Jase Ricci. Roth also executive produces with Sam Register.
Last summer, after WarnerMedia merged with Discovery to form Warner Bros. Discovery, Merry Little Batman is among six animated projects canceled at HBO Max. Amazon acquired three animated Batman projects in April. Merry Little Batman will be the first to appear on Prime Video. This will be followed by the spin-off series Bat-Family , which follows Batman, Alfred and young Damian Wayne – who has taken up the mantle of Little Batman – along with several newcomers to Wayne Manor as they navigate the fun and frustrations of life as a super family.
Batman: Caped Crusader , from executive producers Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves, stands alone and features “sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences, all set in a visually striking world.” Prime Video has confirmed a two-season order for the hotly anticipated animated series, first announced for HBO Max in 2021.
The Batman animated series helped pioneer the evolution of superhero stories and defined the Dark Knight for a generation. Batman: Caped Crusader will undoubtedly continue this tradition, and along with Merry Little Batman and the Bat-Family , we are thrilled to be working with Warner Bros. Animation to offer diverse takes on the Batman mythos to our global Prime Video customers.
– said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon and MGM Studios.
