After the Gauntlet and the War , it's time for the Infinity Crusade , which completes the story of the Infinity Saga. This time, Adam Warlock has to face his good female side, known as the Goddess. Almost all Marvel heroes will also fight, but this time on different sides.
For trouble… Thanos
After defeating Magus, it seems the Infinity Guard will finally have a break. Nothing could be more wrong. Here comes the self-proclaimed Goddess, the good side of Adam Warlock, who plans to put an end to all evil in the universe. Her plan is laudable, but the execution is definitely inferior. The woman is crazy as are her plans. In addition, she creates Raj Omega and puts all the heroes with noble, faith-filled hearts on her side, with Captain America, Spider-Man, Storm, Thor and Daredevil at the forefront. However, Wolverine, Iron-Man, Hulk and Vision still remain in opposition. Under Reed Richards, they have to face their recent friends. Meanwhile, the Goddess grows stronger. Adam Warlock, knowing that he will not be able to cope with the opponent himself, must again turn to Thanos for help.
We have everyone here!
Infinity Crusade with a script by Jim Starlin is a continuation of the Infinity Saga . It is a huge crossoverin which almost all Marvel heroes take part. At times it seems that the author focuses the most on showing each character. We get a lot of humorous, but completely unnecessary scenes for the plot, such as the one where Hulk, Thing and Wolverine bathe the troll Pip. Also, dialogues between some people are completely unnecessary and do not add anything essential. As a result, the comic is sometimes even boring, and going through 492 pages seems at times to drag on forever. The main plot is not too exciting either. For a long time, everything is focused on the mysterious plan of the Goddess, which the reader cannot recognize at once, to build tension. In the end, her idea is surprising and the last pages do not let us tear myself away from the notebook, but before that, our heroes speculate, are looking for a solution, and the recipient, instead of becoming emotional, may fall asleep from boredom. And even numerous twists cannot fix it.
Retro style
Infinity Crusade is part of the Marvel Classic series, published in Poland by Egmont. The issues contained therein were originally published from June to November 1993. The cartoonists responsible for their creation include: Ron Lim, Tom Raney, Angel Medina, Tom Grindberg and Kris Renkewitz. After looking at the cover, we can see that the style is typical of those times. All the drawings are made by hand and there is no computer support here. The backgrounds sometimes look as if someone forgot to put color on the sketches, but they have their charm. In every wider perspective of the room, we see heroes scattered around and having conversations with each other. They are the most important here, not the details behind them. In addition, we can find text on almost every page. Even during the fight, the characters keep dialogues or the authors explain to us things that are obvious.
For my part, I would like to add that I am delighted with how the cartoonists presented Eternity and Infinity and the journey of Adam Warlock through subsequent layers of reality. In these fragments the images are really psychedelic, but they are supposed to be like that. The surrealism presented in them catches the eye and makes it necessary to devote a little longer to it. Well done.
Guide publisher
To get to know the entire history of the Infinity Crusade , in the 90s you had to buy notebooks from The Infinity Crusade series , as well as The Warlock Chronicles and Warlock and the Infinity Watch . There were also single numbers of Avengers West Coast , Alpha Flight and Thor . It was certainly time consuming and tiring to track and collect everything. Fortunately, we don’t have such a problem. The Polish publisher, Egmont, did everything for us. The entire plot has been collected, organized and closed in a thick hardcover notebook. Thanks to this, we will not get lost in the adventure, which is really complicated at times.
The middle end of the saga
The Infinity Crusade ends the cycle known as the Infinity Saga . Unfortunately, the closing is not the best. The developers decided to create a giant crossover once againand give each hero at least a frame. Thanks to this solution, we get a lot of senseless scenes and unnecessary gags, and at the same time a stretched story that is boring instead of exciting. Yes, we will also find some great fragments here, and the ending itself will make us follow the fate of the characters with bated breath, but we will yawn more often than we have flushed faces. Drawings, in turn, are a real classic and a treat for comic book fans, although maybe not everyone will like them. Older readers will move back to their youth, and younger readers will have the opportunity to see a piece of the history of the House of Ideas. Ultimately, however, the item is not compulsory. If you really want to get to know the history of Adam Warlock and Thanos and see almost all Marvel heroes in one comic book, then get yourself an Infinity Gauntlet that keeps you in suspense from start to finish. After the Crusade Reach for if you actually want to explore the unusual plan of the Goddess, and know the end of the whole saga.
