Netflix series dedicated to Marvel characters, such as Jessica Jones, Punisher, but also Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, were incredibly popular. However, they were all canceled after Disney announced plans to create their own streaming platform. So the owners of Netflix decided to end the production of the series, despite having the right to the characters. Now, however, the contracts have expired, and Marvel Studios can use these characters in live-action productions.
However, will the label decide to keep the stories that told Netflix’s series? Will the cast be changed? Can you expect titles related to Defenders at all? If so, then probably not soon. When announcing upcoming MCU projects on Investor’s Day, Disney did not list any titles that indicated it, and it would be hard to believe that the studio forgot about the rights it was about to regain. This does not mean, however, that the heroes will not appear as side characters in any of the Marvel movies or series. An example is Charlie Cox ( Daredevil ), who was spotted on the set of Spider-Man 3. This does not confirm his engagement as Matt Murdock, but gives hope that the fate of Netflix characters is not a foregone conclusion. It is known, however, that Jon Bernthal, the actor who plays the Punisher, is ready to return to the role. As he said himself:
I cannot express how much the people’s reaction to this version of Frank [Castle’s note] means to me. author] because he also means a lot to me. It is in my blood, in my bones. (…) Decisions are made in rooms to which I am not invited … But Frank is always here, he is always a part of me. And when I get a message that something is going on, I’ll be ready to do whatever I can to get it done right or not at all.
And you, Dear Readers, would like to see the same actors again in the roles of Jessica, Luke, Matt, Frank and Finn? Would you watch the next adventures of the Defenders group? Write in the comments what you think about it.
