For a long time I have intended to take a closer look at contemporary children's literature. Of course, I do not mean classics or well-known titles. Therefore, courtesy of the publishers, I try to review items intended for the youngest, often those who cannot read themselves. An interesting proposition for this age category is the Weather series for Puchaczy .
A family of cute owls
When fluffy chicks hatched in the Puchaczy family, their parents named them Bubisia, Bubuś, Bubbo and Bubel. The authors devised these names quite cleverly, as the Latin name for this species is bubo bubo . Our little heroes grow up quickly and as soon as they learn to fly, they set off in search of the perfect patch of forest for themselves. Common eagle owls are, after all, sedentary birds. As you may have guessed, our heroes experience extraordinary adventures during their journey. Each of them teaches little readers something new about the natural world (both fauna and flora).
Seasonal adventures
The reviewed series consists of four books, each of them dealing with a different time of the year. Thanks to this, in an easy and accessible way for preschoolers, the authors smuggle knowledge and expand the vocabulary of our little ones. In the book Winter there are (of course with a definition) such words as black ice or rime. Moreover, Bartek Jędrzejczak explains, for example, why individual snowflakes look different and what is the difference between a blizzard and a blizzard.
Additionally, after each story, the authors put a page where the child can add or paste something. This type of solution will certainly make the reading process more pleasant. In addition, toddlers will be able to practice hand-eye coordination and learn that reading is not boring.
Because it’s worth reading for kids
I don’t think I need to tell anyone how important it is for us to read to our children. However, it is worth paying attention to what books we choose for them. I am definitely in favor of first checking what a given item will bring to our child’s life. Let’s not be tempted by beautiful pictures that carry no content!
Summary
I heartily recommend the Weather for Puchacze series to all adults (as well as older siblings) who are looking for valuable books for the youngest. Thanks to it, the toddler will not only spend a pleasant time with the reader, learn new words, weather phenomena and facts about nature, but will also be able to develop their creativity on specially designed pages.
