Darth Vader is not your typical father. However, when she sees the weakness of her only son, Luke, she decides to destroy all those responsible for her. During his bloody journey, he finds a trace of the past that stirs up the remnants of Anakin Skywalker's feelings.
The new face of the Sith
The Dark Heart of the Sith is the beginning of a new series of Star Wars comics . The series will be devoted to the character of the Dark Lord, who has become the showpiece of the entire Star Wars universe. It is made up of a duo of experienced artists. Greg Pak is a kind of veteran comic book writers, who has already created numerous stories in the universe of the “distant galaxy”. The illustrator Raffaele Ienco is, in turn, a debutant in terms of the subject. After reading The Dark Heart of the Sith , however, I know that it will be great in this series. Almost every frame of it is a miniature masterpiece and a tribute to the work of George Lucas.
Can Vader change?
The greatest strength of the Darkheart of the Siththere is the depth the character of Darth Vader takes. Known to us mainly as a butcher in the service of the Emperor, a machine to hunt and eliminate opponents of the new power, here he appears to us as a hero who struggles with memories. Upon encountering a trace of his former life in the form of Padme’s doppelganger, the changed Anakin seeks to discover the truth and avenge the death of his beloved. Despite the fact that the dark Jedi will stop at nothing to achieve his goal, in the comics of Paka and Ienco, long-forgotten good begins to prevail in him. Vader stops killing and starts working with Padme Amidala’s former subjects. Something new about this character, something worth seeing with your own eyes. However, there are also scenes that show how brutal and cruel the Lord of the Sith can be. The comic itself is certainly not intended for children, because severed limbs fall thick here. The violence portrayed so vividly, however, works to the benefit of the Vader story and reminds readers of what this villain is capable of.
Retrospekcje Skywalkera
The references to Anakin’s memories make a great impression in the comic. Often the scenes are filled with scenes taken from the Star Wars prequel trilogy . Ienco’s drawings work great here, because their realism is simply amazing. Sometimes the perspective of individual scenes has also been changed so that the reader sees them from the perspective of Anakin Skywalker. In this way, the authors remind us of the love story of Skywalker and Padme, the slow fall of the young Jedi into darkness, and finally a spectacular duel with Obi-Wan on the volcanic planet Mustafar.
The cruel rule of the Empire
The Dark Heart of the Sith also shows the reality of a galaxy ruled by the Galactic Empire. The planets are controlled from imperial bases which look very impressive. The punitive ranks of stormtroopers who received the Darth Vader delegation from childhood evoked admiration mixed with fear, and today they are even more associated with the historical scenes of the reign of dictators. Presentation of brute force and despotism in a space edition.
Who’s Pulling the Strings?
Of course, the comic also includes the character of Emperor Palpatine. At first I found it strange that this cunning ruler would allow his subject to travel privately across the galaxy, which would weaken his stubbornness and surrender to the dark side of the force. As it turns out, however, the dictator takes every opportunity to make Vader even more dependent on himself. He controls it with fear and pain, and Skywalker’s torture scenes allow us to better understand the tragedy of this character – Star Wars’ greatest loser.
Vader is never enough!
It would seem that everything has already been said about Vader. This character has already been grinded in all directions by hundreds of comics, movies, series and games. None of these cultural texts, however, gave this hero as much depth as the Dark Heart of the Sith does . Flashbacks, emotion, dilemmas, and even pity so unknown to the famous villain suddenly enter Vader’s life. A great line and an amazing approach to the subject. Any disadvantages? Lord Sith’s sentimental journey is a bit boring in places …
