“Lord of the Rings” from Amazon with the second season

The series was extended even before work on the first season began.

Ever since HBO ended Game of Thrones , the question has arisen as to what will take its place as a fantastic mega-production. One of the candidates is the serial adaptation of Tolkien’s masterpiece from Amazon. The company has so much hopes for the new Lord of the Rings that it decided to order the second season of the series not only before the premiere of the first, but even before the start of recording.

According to Deadline, work on the next season will begin after the first season is finished. The multi-seasonality was included in the contract for the rights to the novel, so it is not surprising that the story has been written over many episodes. It is also known that after the shooting of the first two, there will be a break in production, lasting 4-5 months, which is to allow the writers to plan the second season and evaluate the material shot so far.

Shooting in New Zealand is expected to start soon. The cast includes, among others Willa Poulter as Beldor and Markella Kavenagh, an Australian actress who plays the role of Tyra, the main character. In the role of the villain, Oren, we will see Joseph Rawle known from Game of Thrones . Showrunners are JD Payne and Patrick McKay along with JA Bayon ( Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ), who will direct the first episodes. Costume designer Kate Hawley ( Suicide Squad ), set designer, Rick Heinrichs ( Star Wars: The Last Jedi ), special effects supervisor, Jason Smith (The Ghost ), and illustrator John Howe were also announced .

It’s also worth mentioning that recently Netflix was the first to announce the renewal of its own adaptation of the epic fantasy saga,  The Witcher . Over the next few years, can we expect a split of fans and fierce competition for the title of the rightful successor to Game of Thrones ? As Netflix did on December 20, we will probably wait for the production of Amazon until 2021.
