There are many unknowns in Philip's story. However, an attentive viewer will follow its fate, looking for possible alternatives to the ending. Is it worth taking a look at this movie?

I do not think I will surprise anyone by writing that the film is a cluster of cliché s known from the world of horror . Despite the Italian interpretation (the director is Alessio Liguori), one cannot help but feel that the film is lame from the very beginning. We follow the fate of a very lonely hero, in the initial frames we learn how he reacts to stressful situations and how he cannot deal with them, we consistently wait for an unknown force of evil that does not want to manifest itself, we watch something like exorcisms and we believe in positive for all form ending. Of course, not everyone will feel the same emotions during the screening, but I think that after watching the horror movie, we will all agree that Trappedit is not the best offer this year in its category. Despite the fact that the competitors were not strong, the title of the superproduction of 2020 must be earned.

Who do we have here …
Philip’s character is complex due to two possible perspectives: the hero as a helpless child or a tormented adult (a life dominated by affliction and hopelessness). In light of what has been indicated, I dare to say that the character creation required the main actor in the trap diligent preparation for the role. Has Jamie Paul made it? Not necessarily. It seems to me that unfortunately I ran out of experience. The images of the protagonist who have one universal expression are cruelly tiring. Nuisance is his middle name. And the third. And the fourth. Philip is partnered by beautiful (and how!) Women whose presence – which is not surprising – leads the hero to even greater anguish and deepening of his depression. The only highlight of the film’s cast is David Bailie I, who played the priest character. Eighty-something-year-old actor known from Pirates of the Caribbean(Cotton), evokes specific emotions in the viewer, profiles them and metaphorically includes them in the film’s cast. The scenes in which Bailie appears can be considered the most successful. The director had an idea how to weave Father Andrew’s plot into Philip’s fictional sorrows, and it should be considered one of the few positive aspects of this production.

And there is evil around the corner
The action of the film takes place in one place – a huge quasi apartment belonging to Philip’s mother and her children. After the death of his parent, the protagonist lives alone and, not surprisingly, becomes an interior decorator. The apartment is equipped with rosaries, statues of saints, candles and other artifacts to protect the lost soul from the evil of the surrounding world. We can presume that Philip believes that the presence of sacred objects will protect him from the impenetrable – the hidden evil. Interestingly (and maybe the most interesting thing in the entire production), the apartment has a mysterious room which – as the story unfolds – turns out to be the epicenter of evil. But don’t be fooled by the director’s initial concept. I can assure you that it will surprise you in the least expected moment. Although I am not sure if you will like the proposed twist.
We would like to thank the Cinema City chain for the opportunity to watch the film In Trap !
