Lives of the Dead is a mockumentary about vampires inspired by the universe of What We Do in Shadows. Action of this universe takes place in Poland, and the two heroines, 1800-year-old Apolonia and 130-year-old Mary, have their own, very different ideas on how to cope with the specific conditions in which they have (not) lived. The situation becomes even more complicated when the heroines stand in the way of the witch Ścibora, who does not like vampires.
The originator, director and screenwriter of Lives of the Dead is Amadeusz Andrzejewski. Every day editor (member of PSM – Polish Association of Editors) and journalist testing film equipment. It was he who initiated the production and created its script. In addition to editing several feature-length cinema productions, Amadeusz has also made a number of independent films as a director, including Bal Lost, Pro Morte and Ziemianka .
The production division was taken care of by Jan Kawecki, executive producer and production manager known, among others, from films such as Half a Century of Poetry Later – Alzur’s Legacy (a fan film set in the Witcher universe ) or Black Ebonite Trail – Stalker Short Film .
The main roles will be played by Apolonia Hernik as Apolonia, Weronika Sójka-Mazurek as Mary and Anna Maria Kosik as a witch Ścibora.
The project is currently at the stage of pre-production, i.e. completing the crew, choosing a location, developing costumes or acting rehearsals. At the same time, there is also a drop for its financing. The goal of the creators is to raise funds for the implementation of the first, pilot episode of the series. It will be approximately 20-30 minutes long. As they say themselves:
With hard evidence that we are able to do this, we will be in a much better position when talking to manufacturers and other institutional sponsors when looking for a budget for the rest of the season.
By the way, thanks to these activities, they will professionally make a short film that will be available to watch and will pay tribute to the cult series Co Do We W Ukrłu .
