Lilo & Stitch in the works in Hawaii!

Kadr z filmu "Lilo & Stitch"

A live-action version of Lilo & Stitch is currently in production in Hawaii ! The favorite blue alien will be computer-created – as was the case with the animals in The Little Mermaid .

The Little Mermaid hits theaters this month, but it wo n’t be the last film in Disney’s long line of remakes . We’ve also seen adaptations of Beauty and the BeastAladdin  and Mulan before . It’s time for a new installment of Lilo and Stitch , starring Maia Kealoha as Lilo, and Chris Sanders to lend his voice to Stitch. Several videos from the film set have hit the Internet, which show the first look at this blue alien.

Reel News Hawaii shared the footage on Twitter , and if you look closely, you might spot Stitch AKA Experiment 626. It’s likely to be computer-animated in the video, meaning the version seen in the post is just a stand-in. You can watch the production video below:

How did the animals in  The Little Mermaid come to be ?

In an interview with Jacob Tremblay (Flounder), Awkwafina (Scuttle) and Daveed Diggs (Sebastian) of The Little Mermaid, they were asked about making the film.

We were on set, but no mocap. They only filmed our faces.

Diggs explained

No , I don’t think so. They filmed our faces and implemented it . It was pretty cool because when we were shooting we were rehearsing and they had dolls . Like , for example , there was a flounder that was hinged and could imitate swimming anyway . _ It’s pretty cool see it and then think about it during the performance .

Tremblay replied when asked if the sound of realistic looking animals is different from sounding cartoons
