Ziemiański was born on February 17, 1960 in Wrocław. Initially, he did not plan his career in literary terms – he graduated from the Wrocław University of Technology at the Faculty of Architecture. After graduating, he did not leave his university and found employment at the Institute of Architecture and Town Planning of the Wrocław University of Technology. Then he went to work at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Geodesy of the Agricultural University in Wrocław, in the meantime teaching creative writing at the University of Wrocław.
His first publications also took place at the university. The story “Zakład Zamknij” / “Zakład Zamknij” made its debut in “Sigma”, which was the magazine of the Wrocław University of Technology. In 1985 his first book was published. It was a collection of short stories entitled Daimonion. Soon after, he published a few more novels, but he disappeared from literary life for over ten years. In the meantime, together with Eugeniusz Dębski, he founded the first Internet portal “Farrenheit” devoted to fantasy and science-fiction. However, a conflict grew between the founders, which resulted in the departure (or expulsion, as the writer claims) of Ziemiański from the editorial office.
In his texts, Ziemiański is not afraid of brutality and profanity, for which he is often criticized by readers. One of the writer’s most popular novels is Achaia , which, although classified as fantasy, is considered an example of science fiction by the author himself. He was also popular with such novels as Imaginary Wars, Gates of Fear, Behind the Tomb, or Toy Wars . He was also repeatedly awarded the Polish literary award Sfinks, as well as the Nautilius Award. He is also a laureate of the Janusz A. Zajdel.
