Unexplained secrets
Joanna recently lost her mother and has also defeated breast cancer. Now he is trying to return to his interrupted studies and research on birds. She wants to prove to others, and above all to herself, that she can still get back on her feet after all these difficult experiences. One evening her routine is interrupted by an unusual experience – a girl wearing pajama bottoms and bruises appears in front of Joanna’s house. Ursa – because that is her name – reveals that she came from the stars to understand people and see five wonders on Earth. She remains under Joanna’s care, but with one reservation – only until she discovers who the little alien really is. Gabriel, a young recluse neighbor, helps the protagonist to unravel the mystery. Adults spend a lot of time with a girl and carefully observe her behavior. Over time they begin to understand
All-encompassing the senses
Where forest meets sky is a Goodreads Choice Award finalist. For good reason. It is a literary proposition that allowed me to feel with all my senses. The book, which I have been holding in my hands for many hours, delights with its publication (convex elements of the cover encourage contact with Vanderah’s debut), it also ignites other senses – we smell the hay, hear the meows of cats, and our hearts ignite at the thought of what is happening in the novel. The language of the novel is not complicated, a bit fairy-tale-like, which makes it a proposition suitable for both younger and older audiences. Although we read about little alien Ursie in the blurb, don’t get discouraged – this story is worth every sleepless night.
Character history – ours?
A painful past hits you when you least expect it. Ursa, Jo, Gabe, Little Bear, Big Bear – we get to know them in the novel and we will consistently cheer them on. The story forces us to reflect, it mobilizes us to reflect on what surrounds us. It’s not just about the relationship, but about feelings and needs. Vanderah is moving, showing the change in the approach of the heroes – the ornithologists Jo and Gabe – to the little alien Ursa (in one of the fragments they even stop browsing the pages with details of missing children …), but also deals with topics that have already been overworked: disease, trauma, violence , harassment. It is worth noting, however, that it does it in a very original and unique way. If you want to know the finale of this story and find out who Ursa really was, don’t wait – take a look atWhere the forest meets the sky from the Warsaw literary publishing house Muza.
