The cult “Labyrinth” will have a film continuation. The sequel to Jim Henson’s famous work has a director. He is a man who has collaborated with Marvel until recently.
According to reports by Deadline, Scott Derrickson will direct the continuation of The Labyrinth . In addition, he will also serve as executive producer with Brian Henson and Robert Cargill. Maggie Levin will be responsible for the script for the film. Lisa Henson from The Jim Henson Company is the producer.
Until recently, Derrickson collaborated with Marvel Studios. He directed Dr. Starnge and would also be in charge of the sequel. Ultimately, however, he resigned as his vision of the film was too far from the studio’s expectations. New Labyrinth is his first official project after parting with the MCU.
The original production of the legendary Jim Henson debuted in theaters in 1986. The film with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly permanently entered mass culture. So far, novels, comics and games have been created that relate to it, but never a full-fledged sequel.
It is not known when the Labyrinth sequel will have its premiere.
