Disney on its way, by refreshing the greatest classics created by the studio, reached the giant which is the Lion King . The new version hit theaters a few months ago, and from November 27, it will be available in Blu-Ray and DVD versions.
Famous story, new painting
The story told in the film is probably well known to everyone. This is by far one of the most well-entrenched versions of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet cast into the animal world by Disney. It all revolves around an old feud between brothers that springs from a thirst for power and influence. Mufasa is a just and good ruler, and his brother Scar has been relegated to the margins – an outcast who was not banished from the kingdom only by the grace of his brother. When a king’s offspring is born, the dispute over the “crown” becomes more important. As a result of Scar’s plot, Mufasa is killed and Simba, the rightful heir, is forced to flee.

Production on a grand scale
The Lion King is officially one of the most expensive productions of all time. Sources say that about US $ 260 million has been allocated to it, which has more than paid off. The film grossed over US $ 1.6 trillion and is the second highest grossing film of the year, right behind Avengers: Endgame . All this money can be easily seen on the screen. Computer-made components are absolutely phenomenal. The animation (if you can still put it that way) is incredibly fluid and mimetic in the best sense of the word.
The galaxy of stars who took part in the creation of the original dub can also testify to the momentum of the production. James Earl Jones, Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Seth Rogen, and John Oliver are just a few of the names on this long list. In the Polish version, viewers can hear both well-known and popular artists (Jerzy Stuhr, Danuta Stenka, Artur Żmijewski) and voices of the young generation (Marcin Januszkiewicz, Zofia Nowakowska, Paweł Szymański).

Revised but still a classic
The project manager was John Favreau, a well-known actor and director, who can be associated, for example, with the adaptation of comic books from the Marvel universe. The Lion King was not his first adventure with remakes of the Disney classics in live action technology , as he was responsible for the creation of The Jungle Book a few years ago .
Despite many concerns, the film is not just a frame-by-frame remake of the cult animation. Some scenes and sequences have been mapped almost perfectly, others have been changed. Favreau decided to add a few elements (such as a new song that Beyoncé performed), and also remove something a bit, such as one of my favorite scenes, which is Timon singing performing a song about how tasty Pumbaa is.

Everything is correct on the DVD
The release of The Lion King on DVD may be modest, but it is definitely sufficient. The film can be watched in the original audio version or with Polish dubbing. A Slovak and Czech language teacher is also available. For supporters of subtitles, there are versions in Polish, Slovak, Czech, and also in English for the deaf. The CD also includes a special supplement called “Movement for the Protection of Lions”.

Disney goes over time and updates its classics with the latest technology. The Lion King in its live action edition is a perfect example of how technology has progressed tremendously in 30 years. Favreau and his team approached the task of refreshing the film in a very careful but deliberate manner. In this way, a painting was created that is not a perfect copy of its prototype, but a kind of tribute and a real gem in the crown of the entire studio.
The New Lion King is a classic story for the youngest and not only for our times. It has what we love the most about the original animation, in addition to beautiful graphics and a refreshed soundtrack.
