Keanu Reeves announced his contribution to the new title from BOOM! Studios. Together with Matt Kindt, they wrote the story for the action-packed fantasy comic BRZRKR . Alessandro Vitti is responsible for the visual side of the series. The series is to be limited and consists of twelve issues issued once a month. The first one will be released in October this year.
In BRZRKR, we will follow the story of an immortal warrior who has been following the path of death and conflict for centuries. The main part of the action is to take place today, and the title Berserker cooperates with the US government. In return for his services, the main character wants to learn the truth about his origin.
In an interview with USA Today, Reeves revealed some details about his first comic book. In an early draft of the script he came to BOOM !, his character had been alive for over 80,000 years and was only half human. His father was to be the god of war (he did not specify which one). The actor, and now also a screenwriter, explained that this was his vision – a man struggling through the ages by loving the violence of his divine parent. Reeves also revealed that although the hero is long-lived, he will not be omniscient. His knowledge or knowledge of ancient languages will be limited to the places and experiences he has visited.
In the same interview, the editor-in-chief of BOOM! Studios, Matt Gagnon. He explained that working with someone as famous as Keanu Reeves is not just a marketing maneuver. His contribution to the new title is real, and the actor himself is said to have a talent for storytelling. According to Gagnon, it is enough to listen to Reeves for a few minutes to get to know his creativity and dedication to the topic.
Although it is not known whether BRZRKR will have the potential to make a film based on it, the author is certainly counting on it. Taking into account the cooperation agreement that the publishing company has concluded with Netflix, it is not out of the question.
