There is no doubt that the loudest animation from DC and Warner Bros. this year is an adaptation of the comic book “Superman: Red Son”. However, it is also worth remembering about other productions. The first trailer of one of them hit the network.
The published material suggests that the conflict with the ruler of the Apocalypse – Darkseid – will have far-reaching consequences for the heroes. We are to expect unexpected alliances and twists. Some of the excerpts featured in the trailer may also indicate a leap in time.
The creators gathered a fairly impressive cast. The film features Matt Ryan (John Constantine), Jerry O’Connell (Superman), Taissa Farmiga (Raven), Jason O’Mara (Batman), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), Shemar Moore (Cyborg), Christopher Gorham (Flash), Rebecca Romijn (Lois Lane) and Rainn Wilson (Lex Luthor). Darkseid, in turn, will speak with the voice of Tony Todd, known e.g. from the role of the title villain in the Candyman horror series .
In the comics, Justice League Dark is a splinter of the main heroes’ team. Members of this team solve cases related to dark magic and mysticism. The first animated screening of the adventures of this group of heroes debuted in 2017. Acting production was also planned, but for now the project has been abandoned.
Justice League Dark: Apokalips War will debut on DVD, Blu-ray and digital distribution this spring.
