Just Cause Mobile officially canceled by Square Enix

The new Just Cause Mobile game has been cancelled. Square Enix officially confirmed that from July 3, 2023, it stopped appearing in digital stores.

Just Cause is a much loved series. These are games where you blow things up, and it’s a lot of fun. Just Cause 2 added a grappling hook and a parachute that allowed you to perform all sorts of funny stunts, almost making players feel like Tom Cruise. It’s been five years since the last release, and it’s been fairly quiet since then.

That said, Square Enix seemed to want to develop more games in the series or expand it. The team was working on a new spin-off called Just Cause Mobile . It was supposed to be released in 2021, but has been delayed many times. The early access version, on the other hand, was playable. It was also to be the first official Just Cause online game, allowing for PvP matches and co-op. However, Square Enix has confirmed that the game is canceled (by VGC) and will no longer receive a full release.

It is with great sadness that we announce the end of development on Just Cause Mobile. Starting tomorrow, July 3, 2023, the game will no longer appear in digital stores. Announcements of this kind are never easy, especially for our fans who have been waiting for the release. Thank you very much for your support, all Blue Diamonds purchased through Regional Early Access were returned to your Google Play account on February 24, 2023.

said Anne-Lou Grosbois-Favreau, Square Enix’s global brand leader for the Just Cause series

Just Cause 4 reportedly didn’t sell very well, but Square Enix has confirmed that it’s actively working on a new game in the series. The company still owns the rights to Just Cause after selling a ton of its intellectual property and studios to Embracer Group. Avalanche Studios is also working on a new Xbox. It is not known whether the developer of the series known as Contraband will be working on it, or whether a new studio is already working on the project.
