This year’s Golden Globes have already been distributed. One of the main awards went to Joaquin Pheonix for his performance in Joker .
On the night of January 5-6, Golden Globes were awarded. The movie Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood turned out to be a great success , bringing its creators three statuettes. Netflix’s management did not have any reasons to be satisfied. The platform’s productions received only two awards, despite as many as thirty-four nominations.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association appreciated the film Joker for this . Although Todd Phillips did not receive the Best Drama Film Award (the one was won by Sam Mendes for 1917 ), the composer Hildur Guðnadóttir won the Best Music Award. Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the title role in The Joker, was honored as the best actor in a drama film.
Phoenix, however, is known to be quite skeptical about Hollywood show business, this season of awards, which he expressed when addressing the other nominees in his category (Christian Bale, Antonio Banderas, Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce) with the words:
We all know there is no such thing as the fucking best actor, there is no competition between us.
The award for the best animation turned out to be a big surprise. Most of all, Toy Story 4 and How to Train Your Dragon 3 were selected , and the statuette went to Praziomek , directed by Chris Butler.
