The prestigious Oscars were presented at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on the night of February 9-10. Among the winners there are also films related to fantasy!
The film Joker received the most nominations for an Oscar, as many as 11 . The story of Batman’s greatest enemy fought for the statuette, incl. in the “Best Movie”, “Best Director” and “Best Leading Actors” categories. The title based on DC comics ultimately received only two statuettes. One of them went to the lead actor Joaquin Phoenix, the other was awarded for “Best Original Music”.
The creators of the animated film Toy Story 4 could also celebrate their triumph . In the category “Best full-length animated film” they beat the competition in the form of How to Train Your Dragon 3 , Lost My Body , Klaus and Praziomek .
Unfortunately, no Oscar was awarded to Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King or Star Wars: Skywalker. Revival, which were nominated in the “Best Special Effects” category. The jurors decided that the 1917 film deserved the award. The statuette was also not won by Witch 2 , nominated in the “Best Makeup” category.
The largest number of statuettes, as many as four, was won by the Korean production of Parasite – including for the best film of 2019.
