John Litghow, our birthday boy today, was born shortly after the war – on October 19, 1945 in New York State. We know him from such achievements as participation in the series “The Third Planet from the Sun”, in the films “Harry and the Hendersons” or “Interstellar”. He gave the voice to Lord Farquaad in “Shrek”.

John Lithgow was the son of a theater producer, so it can be said that the path to being an actor was somewhat worn. However, he did not count on the forums. First he graduated from Harvard University (history and literature), then he became an educated actor (he graduated from the London Academy Of Music And Dramatic Art).

He made his film debut in 1972, and the following year on Broadway (his performance in The Changing Room gave him a Tony Award). However, films such as Obsession , The World According to Garp, Footloose,  All That Madness, and the Pelican Report won him wide recognition And his participation in the serial killer series entitled Dexter  won him a Golden Globe. Despite his nice appearance, he often played villains and murderers. He himself stated that this is why he was given such roles – by contrast.

We fantasy fans also know him from The Genesis of the Planet of the Apes, Interstellar, Pet Tramp , Shrek , the horror movie My Brother Cain,  or the movie Harry and the Hendersons .

Overall, he has received many awards. He has won Tony twice, Emmys six times, Golden Globes twice, and nominated for an Oscar twice. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I won two Golden Globes and there was a long, long period [13 years] between the victories. This can be explained by the fact that when I first won the Third Planet from the Sun award , I amusingly compared the aliens on the show to the Foreign Press Association. And they didn’t take it well.

As you can see, John has a great sense of humor, which is probably why he is doing so well. We wish him more than one great role. And you? What wishes would you like to convey to our birthday boy today?
