He was born on October 27, 1939 in the English Weston-Super-Mare. The beginning of his work with acting can be considered law studies at the University of Cambridge, where he met his future writing partner – Graham Chapman. Together, they founded probably the most famous (and certainly the cult) comedy group – Monthy Python’s Flying Circus . The team created funny skits full of the absurdity of everyday life, which quickly appealed to the audience. The series has become a permanent element of pop culture, inspiring subsequent generations of comedy.
Although Monthy Python is his flagship production, he has also participated in many others. He appeared, among others, in the series Hotel Zacisze as Basil Fawlty, or in the film Bandits of Time , playing the role of Robin Hood. An important role in his career was also played by Rybka called Wanda , for which he was nominated for Golden Globes and an Oscar. In 1994, he also starred in a film about Frankenstein as Professor Waldman. He also had a small part in Harry Potter , playing the role of the Gryffindor ghost – Nearly Headless Nick.
He is also known for giving his voice in animated productions. We can hear him in the game The Elder Scrolls Online as Sir Cadwell and several parts of Shrek , where he appeared as King Harold. In 2016, he also played the role of King Cartilage from the movie Trolls , and two years later he played the Fairy Godmother in the animated film Prince Czaruś .
