The world-famous writer JK Rowling , author of the popular Harry Potter series, will publish her next book absolutely for free !
It will be a children ‘s fairy tale The Ickabog , which Rowling wrote 10 years ago and initially planned to publish just after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows . But then she decided to take a break from publishing books and then focused on two novels for adults.
The book was written with reading aloud in mind and is intended primarily for children aged 7-9 . Rowling read it to her two children when they were young. Currently, he wants to share it with children around the world to cheer them up in the isolation and difficult times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The book chapters will be published daily on weekdays until July 10 on the website dedicated to The Ickabog . Currently, the first two chapters entitled King Fred the Fearless and The Ickabog are available . For now they are only in English, but translations into other languages will follow soon.
There is also a competition for illustrations for the book on the website . Children aged 7-12 are primarily encouraged to participate. Drawings don’t have to be professional. What matters most is “crazy imagination”! The winning entries will be published in a paper edition scheduled for November .
