Jessica Chastain turned down a role in the MCU

More than once, Marel Studios has been praised for its staffing decisions. However, as we know, there were situations when the favorite for a certain role was completely different, but eventually gave up. As it turns out, that’s what happened with Jessica Chastain.

During an interview in one of the podcasts, the screenwriter of the film Doctor Strange – C. Robert Cargill – revealed that one of the roles in that picture was to be played by the aforementioned actress. Specifically, it was about the character of Dr. Christine Palmer (who was eventually played by Rachel McAdams). According to what Cargill said, Chastain was ready to appear in a Marvel production, but only if she played the super heroine.

The screenwriter told how with the star, among others This: Chapter 2 met Dr. Strange’s director Scott Derrickson in person. When he told her about the production and who Chastain would play, she said that the production was going to be great. Right after that, however, she pointed out what kind of role in the MCU actually interested her, and eventually declined. It is also worth adding that some time later the actress played an antagonist in the poorly received X-Men: Dark Phoenix .

Perhaps in the future we will see Jessica Chastain in the MCU movie, if someone proposes her a suitable role.
