Ever since the live-action adaptation of Green Lantern based on the DC comics was announced , fans have been speculating about who could play in the upcoming HBO series Max. Recent rumors indicated that Alan Scott – the first character to be the title Green Lantern, will be played by Jeremy Irvine, an actor known from such productions as Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again or The Last Full Measure . Now you can cut all these guesses, because this information has already been confirmed. Irvine himself posted an eloquent post on his Instagram:
As Irvine wrote, he is excited to be joining the DC universe and looking forward to working on the set.
He is already another confirmed cast member of the production. In addition to him, Finn Wittrock, who will play Guy Gardner, was previously announced. There are still important roles to be cast, such as Sinestro, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz.
The Coming Green Lantern is an adaptation of the comics of the same title, telling about the members of the Green Lantern Corps. This is a special organization whose main goal is to create an intergalactic peacekeeping force. For this reason, its members have rings of power to which they owe their special properties, which greatly facilitate the fulfillment of the task. One of the Green Lanterns, though not officially belonging to the Corps, is Alan Scott. He is one of the most important characters in the story, and his story begins in the 1940s.
HBO Max, along with Warner Bros. and DC shared the official description of the production with fans, but is still silent about the potential release date. Work on the set is scheduled to start this summer.
