The departure of actress Ruby Rose from the Batwoman series after the first season was a real surprise for all fans. The reason for the actress’s resignation is not fully known.
Not so long ago, we speculated that Kate Kane would no longer be Batwoman , now we are sure that The CW will introduce a completely new character. The new heroine in a bat costume will be Ryan Wilder , a character that differs greatly from the stereotype of the American superhero – a former drug addict who hides from the Gotham city police. She lives in a van, she is rude, scruffy, undisciplined and very dangerous. The trait she shares with Kate Kane is that she is also a lesbian.
As Ryan Wilder, black actress Javicia Leslie (known from the series God Friended Me ) was cast , who is very proud of her new role:
I am immensely proud to be the first black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on TV, and as a bisexual woman I am honored to join this groundbreaking show that has pioneered the LGBTQ + community.
The CW’s Batwoman Season 2 premieres in January 2021.
