James Gunn Confirms Major Update for ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2!

Peacemaker may have been one of DC’s biggest surprises in recent years, taking a lesser-known titular character and then making him an important figure in pop culture.

The series was renewed for a second season in spring 2022 , with creator James Gunn stepping into the role of co-CEO of DC Studios later that year. Questions about when and how Peacemaker will fit into the new DC Universe have lingered, but we’re clearly one step closer to making it a reality.

When it was announced that John Cena would star in the series, many fans were surprised. Cena, known primarily as a wrestler and action star, did not necessarily seem to be the perfect choice for the role of this unusual superhero. However, it turned out to be a good decision.

John Cena plays the role of Peacemaker with such commitment and humor that it is difficult to take your eyes off the screen. His ability to combine the characterization of a serious hero with absurd situations and jokes makes Peacemaker an unforgettable and unique character.

In a recent Instagram comment, Gunn confirmed to a fan that he is currently writing the second season of Peacemaker , now that the months-long writers’ strike has ended.

What will season two be about?

Details about Peacemaker Season 2 are currently shrouded in mystery. As series star Jennifer Holland told ComicBook.com shortly after the first season finale, there’s a lot of potential to further develop the team’s character dynamics.

I loved her personality throughout the season. I think it’s really very refined and doesn’t require any rush. I really like the way she was incorporated into the entire series. I guess I didn’t want to hold back. I wanted Harcourt to be as cold and closed off as she could be in the earlier episodes because I wanted her to really have full character throughout the season.

I think what’s interesting is that we don’t know where she’s going. He’s not an open book now. He still has a lot of demons and a lot of things to deal with. Emotionally she is still very closed. But she – I think at this point – finally accepted that it’s good to have a band and to have a family. Whereas when we saw her at the beginning of the series, she was a lone wolf. She felt like she was carrying everyone else and everyone else was just a burden to her. She thought she would be better off alone. I think she has accepted the value of having a team and a family.
