Historia zaczyna się intrygująco, najpierw poznajemy chronologię wydarzeń związanych z kolonizacją Aldebarana 4. Istotną datą jest rok 2094, to wtedy kolonizatorzy utracili kontakt z Ziemią. Mija sto lat i zaczyna się główna opowieść. Poznajemy ją z perspektywy Marca, który pracuje razem z ojcem i bratem jako rybak. W pewnym momencie zaczynają dziać się dziwne wydarzenia, a to morskie stworzenia wychodzą na ląd, a to zjawia się nieznajomy i każe im opuścić wioskę na kilka dni. Oczywiście mieszkańcy, wietrząc podstęp, nie posłuchali rady obcego. Niestety miał on rację i jakieś stworzenie doprowadziło do zagłady całej osady. Ocalał tylko Marc i część rodziny Kellerów w tym, Kim oraz jej siostra. I tak oto zaczyna się wędrówka. Pojawiają się dramatyczne momenty, pościgi, walki z florą i fauną planety, a wszystko to, by odkryć prawdę o niezwykłej istocie, która zamieszkuje Aldebarana…
Eldermore Padarewski
The main characters are Marc and Kim teenagers who mature over time. I will not hide that they did not gain my sympathy, they are clichéd, average and not very interesting characters. Out of the galaxy of characters, I liked Padarewski for friends Pad the most. The type of unpredictable madman, or so he looks. I liked him for his behavior, appearance and way of speaking (still laughing). Apart from that, we have two scientists, a few politicians, two journalists, a musician, a policeman and it is not bad, but in my opinion they are just mediocre.
Local flora and fauna
What is most beautiful in this comic book is the title Aldebaran. Not only do we have a great map, showing the distribution of lands against the background of our Earth (the enormity of the ocean is shocking), but also a comparison of how long it takes, for example, a day, a year on both planets. Very interesting information. In addition, there are short notes about flora and fauna. Unfortunately, the plants were relegated to the background (and some interesting specimens appeared, it is a pity that the author did not even give their names). Fortunately, the fauna has been better displayed. Leo had great ideas for wild animals. For obvious reasons, sea creatures are the most numerous (some are beautiful, such as Dwojacz, Gregor), others deadly (Sand Octopus), there are also strange and curious creatures (Amadeus) and extremely useful for humans (Caravel).
The thread is uneven
Aldebaran tells an interesting story that will draw you into the whole evening, but not everything looks perfect. While the theme with the mysterious creature that destroyed the village of the main characters is great, its ending did not fully satisfy me. Traveling around Aldebaran is a brilliant adventure, watching the heroes struggle with the flora and fauna of the planet awakens the imagination, but, for example, the relationship between the heroes is not that interesting again. The government theme is schematic, it lacks any originality. After all, the world that Leo created can attract you for longer.
Beauty is hidden in nature
The graphic design can delight. The backgrounds, buildings, details, animals and plants and characters are beautiful. However, in the case of the latter, there are times when the facial expressions of individual characters seem grotesque, unnatural and simply strange.
Aldebaran was issued in hardcover on chalk paper. A few concept sketches are included at the beginning.
Was it worth colonizing Aldebaran 4?
Aldebaran is primarily an intriguing alien world, full of fascinating creatures. The graphic design can delight, and the told story can attract you for longer. Although it cannot be denied that the characters do not stand out (except for Pad), and the plot has ups and downs, it is still a story worth knowing.
