It was a terror in Gorzów – review of the third issue of the magazine “LandsbergON”

The third issue of the Gorzów Fantastic Magazine “LandsbergON” has just been published. This time its leitmotif is horror movies. So let’s see if there is anything to be afraid of.

The editor-in-chief invites you

More than six months have passed since the previous issue of “LandsbergON” was published. Following the information on the Facebook page of the NOVUM Association, the magazine’s publisher, I learned that there were financial problems and that the quarterly would have to be changed into a biannual. The most important thing, however, was that the next issue would be released at all. I liked the previous editions, and the idea and initiative were worth recognizing and continuing. Finally, I lived to see the third issue, which I started reading immediately. Already in the introduction, the editor-in-chief of “LandsbergON”, Mariusz Sobkowiak, introduces us to the atmosphere of terror, informing us that there will be something to be afraid of and that we read the magazine at our own risk. So if we are afraid to go to the bathroom later at night, it’s our fault. So as not to be groundless,God bless you . I don’t want to take away the pleasure of reading from anyone, but as a journalist I was able to empathize with the role of the main character and shivers ran down my spine. By the way, the story would be a great introduction to a movie or game. The editor-in-chief fulfilled his role excellently and encouraged us to continue reading the third issue.

We keep the level

After such a strong introduction, the bar for the remaining texts was set really high, but the authors of the following stories did the job. Łukasz Piotrowski wrote Dziwadło for us , an excellent slasher about the revenge of a girl tormented by her peers. And if you think that the heroine decided to grab a knife, ax or machete herself, you are wrong. Her retaliation was much more cruel. But it was also impossible not to cheer for her, and afterwards not to smile and think: “They deserved it!”

Karol “Trapi” Wojdyło also had a great idea. In his Mourning , he showed that we do not always have to be frightened by ghosts, monsters or even serial killers. After reading the story, your hair stands on end when you think about what both characters in the story must have felt.

In turn, Mrs. G. Kwaśniewska in a very clever way gave us a fragment of Gorzów’s past. About the city executioner who was looking for … a wife is certainly the least scary story in this issue of “LandsbergON”, but it shows the history of this city and encourages you to continue searching for interesting facts about it.

Finally, we are left with the Lokal for the lonely by Sebastian Siuda. A somewhat psychedelic story, maintained in a dark atmosphere, which not only strongly affects the imagination, but also prompts you to wonder how the hero’s further fate unfolded and whether the story really happened or was a figment of his imagination.

They scare not only with words

“LandsbergON” has not changed its formula and apart from stories, you will also find photos and pictures promoting local artists. And it must be admitted that they have talent. Dominika Saj is an excellent makeup artist who turned Grzegorz Piotr Czeczott into a demon. The effect is electrifying. I think that if the model appeared in such an outfit at Pyrkon or another convention and took part in a cosplay competition, it would have a good chance of winning. Beata Patrycja Klara and Edwin Bortkiewicz also presented their photos and graphics. They both have completely different styles, but they can also attract attention and arouse a thrill. However, I liked the pictures of Marcin Skiba the most, who showed simple and everyday things like a coffin, an old windmill or a man in the field. Captured in the right one, they can fascinate and make

And you have to wait again

I would also like to add that the third issue of LandsbergON also includes an interview with Jacek Radiszyński, author of the website Talks Wieko . It is a fanpage about supernatural phenomena and anthropology of death. Mr.Radiński talks about his passion in a very encouraging and interesting way, sharing a few interesting facts. So I was happy to visit his website, although in fact he bought my sympathy at the beginning, recalling the series Are you afraid of the dark? (Nostalgeek says hello!). Unfortunately, once again the magazine ends too soon. 22 pages with great stories keep time passing nice, but again left unsatisfied. Now we have to wait for the next issue, which I hope will equal its predecessors.
