Chicken, although she seems to be a very responsible and intelligent girl, inherited from her father the ability to fall into problematic situations. Adding to this the fact that the teenager has just started receiving appropriate training and is extremely ambitious by nature, we get a perfect recipe for a catastrophe in the form of a small apocalypse hanging over Toruń. Fortunately, the newly discovered father will do everything to save not only his loved ones, but also the city that is his home.

Although some people already knew the story of Witkac from the earlier edition, for me his adventures are new. Since the universe of Aneta Jadowska is already quite extensive, new readers will surely be interested in the fact that the trilogy about Witkac can be read without knowing all the previous books. Although then the reader will miss some flavors and memories, but he will not lose the pleasure of reading. It is worth mentioning that Aneta always cares about introducing her characters appropriately, so even if you don’t know, for example, Dora, a few words or memories from WIkac fill this gap sufficiently for a shamanic story.
Everything has its place
Shamanic tangois a very good continuation of the theme of the newly discovered fatherhood and of the Shaman’s dilemmas in the context of the initiation hanging over the man. Jadowska once again provides us with intense emotions with the events taking place both in Toruń and in the Underworld. Of course, the heroes we have known before, such as Konstancja, Sęp or Kurczaczek, return, and the relationship with them is deepening, as is our knowledge about their characters, behaviors or, in the case of the guardian spirit – also history. In order not to be boring, the author also introduces fascinating new characters who, as always, are not only figureheads, but fully-fledged beings who play specific roles in the unfolding events. The atmosphere in the novel changes from a strongly perceptible noir to a more spiritual, metaphysical and shamanic one,
Corn mother and white crow
It is worth noting that the Shamanic Tango much more strongly than the first volume relates to the beliefs of the indigenous people of North America. A lot is said here about the Mother and Father, as well as about a specific hierarchy between beings, and even evokes specific myths. This book is not only captivating with its plot, but also impresses with such interferences and references that make us want to expand our knowledge of the discussed scope. Which bone will be the double?
Aneta Jadowska once again provides us with a full package: fantastic characters, interesting references, dramatic events and deep relationships. This book is perfect to read and preferably all at once. Graphics by Magdalena Babińska emphasize the amazing atmosphere and spirit of this story, so I highly recommend it.
