According to Entertainment Weekly, in Marvel’s Avengers we will hear the voice of Christopher Judge. The actor’s debut in the role of Black Panther will take place next month when the War for Wakanda expansion is released . This won’t be the first time Judge has lent her signature voice to the game. In addition to Kratos, in the aforementioned God of War (he will return to this character in the sequel of that production), we can hear him, among others in World of Warcraft or the remake of Turok from 2008.
In an interview with EW, the actor admitted that he initially turned down the role of T’Challa. The reason was concerns about comparisons to the version of the hero played by the late Chadwick Boseman. Ultimately, he was convinced by family persuasion and a promise to play the hero his way, without trying to emulate the MCU.
Evan Narcisse and Hannah McLeod working on the plot for the War for Wakanda expansion additionally confirmed Judge’s words about the separateness of the character from the one known from the movies. The Black Panther in the game is shaped by the events of the so-called A-Day. This T’Challa, unlike the MCU version, is not looking for answers on how to become a good ruler and protector of his people. He already knows it, or so he thinks it is. Additionally, one of the themes is to be the protagonist’s skirmishes with his sister Shuri about how the future of Wakanda should be shaped.
The exact release date for the new Marvel’s Avengers expansion has not been announced yet .
