Rene Goscinny is the author of many excellent stories. The second volume of The Adventures of the Grand Vizier Iznogud amazed me with incredible ideas and a decent dose of humor. Is the next part equally fun?

The evil vizier Iznogud will stop at nothing to take the place of the good caliph. Also in this volume he will use unconventional methods thanks to which he could sit on the throne. Fortunately, he has an invaluable henchman named Pali Bebeh, and he knows perfectly well that any of his master’s plans will backfire. So it’s time to tell us what our wicked heroes invented this time.
Magic carpet – the first and in my opinion the best story contained in this collection. How to get rid of the caliph? It is best to send him over the horizon on a magic carpet. Unfortunately, handling this unusual item turns out to be very troublesome. What’s more, in the story, we can see that even a parrot can thwart the plans of the evil Iznogud.
Tiger hunting – this time the vizier thought it was best for the animals to do the job for him. A whole lot of interesting cases and unusual twists of fate, as always, led to failure. Moreover, even the arrowheads that Iznogud gave to the caliph contributed to the defeat of the grand vizier.
Bad hopscotch – what if hopscotch turned out to be a magic spell? Just jump on one leg … and poof …, piss and you are a child! Unfortunately, in Baghdad the “atypical source of youth” only caused an unnecessary wave of aggression!
A Turkish puzel – a trader gave Iznogud a puzzle that, after being put together, turns the caliph into a pile of pieces. However, the worst part is that the title puzzle has as many as ten thousand pieces. The main character is extremely unlucky, because even in the desert he is not able to calmly solve the puzzle.
Magic Calendar – great story, because we have a variation with time travel here. Iznogud has learned to jump into the future and the past … but how to use this ability to take the Caliph’s place … and not go crazy at the same time?
Of course, these are just a handful of stories from this impressive collection of stories about the vile and vile Grand Vizier.
A little vizier with great ambitions
Historie są niewątpliwie ciekawe, choć w większości wypadków wiemy, jak się one zakończą to jednak pomysłowość Rene Goscinnego jest zdumiewająca. Iznogud sięga nawet po gadżety z przyszłości, a także wykorzystuje mitologiczną syrenę. Co jednak najważniejsze, bez względu na to, co by się nie działo, można się porządnie uśmiać. Oczywiście niektóre historie są zabawniejsze, ale każda jest w stanie poprawić humor. Poza trójką najważniejszych bohaterów pojawia się cała masa postaci epizodycznych. Wszystko to tworzy mieszankę wybuchową. Bagdad w Przygodach wielkiego wezyra Iznoguda to zaiste barwne, intrygujące i tajemnicze miejsce.
Piękno tureckich dywanów
Jean Tabary doskonale oddaje zachowania bohaterów. Zarówno negatywne emocje, czyli wybuchy gniewu Iznoguda, jak i poczciwość i głupotę kalifa, która wprost bije z jego pulchnego oblicza. Wszystko perfekcyjnie widać w ich gestach i mimice. Pięknie prezentują się także niezwykle barwne ubrania naszych bohaterów jak i sam kolorowy, a przy tym majestatyczny Bagdad. Wydanie również wypada zadowalająco. W jednym tomie mamy zmieszczone cztery zeszyty. Co prawda do pełni szczęścia brakuje tylko kredowego papieru, ale w gruncie rzeczy mi osobiście wystarczy twarda okładka.
Czy warto odwiedzić Bagdad?
Z przyjemnością przeczytałem Przygody wielkiego wezyra Iznoguda, bo każda z zaprezentowanych historii wprowadziła mnie w dobry nastrój, a i trochę się pośmiałem. Lubię te szalone historie. Czasem mam wrażenie, że tłumaczenie nieznacznie kuleję, ale mimo wszystko to świetna pozycja. Goscinny stworzył Bagdad, który zamieszkuje barwna plejada niezwykłych i śmiesznych postaci. Ja zawsze chętnie do niego powrócę, bo to miejsce ma swój niebywały urok. No i bardzo podoba mi się odwrócenie ról. Miło dla odmiany obserwować poczynania antybohatera i śmiać się z jego niepowodzeń. Już nie mogę się doczekać kolejnego tomu!
