In just one week, on June 8-9, the eighth edition of the Gaming conference on the Online Stock Exchange will take place. As part of it, representatives of, among others, Bloober Team, PlayWay, People Can Fly or Huuuge will try to find answers to bothering questions about consolidation in the gaming industry.
Invited guests take part in discussion panels, the recipients of which are investors, journalists, stock market analysts and players. Therefore, participation in the conference is a great opportunity to increase your recognition in the eyes of investors and build an expert image among players, editors of the industry press or potential employees. The aim of the event is to educate the investor community about the potential of gamedev in Poland.
The organizer of the event is the PR Strict Minds agency, and the co-organizers of the portals StockWatch.pl, Polskigamedev.pl, as well as the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The honorary patron is GovTech, the main one – the Chiswick Creative Ventures fund, and the media of the conference are: Interia, gry-online, ISB Tech, InvestInGaming, Comparic, Last Tawerna, Association of Individual Investors (SII). Tomasz Muchalski, president of STRICT MINDS said:
The world of gamedev is changing before our eyes. The gigantic acquisitions we have witnessed in recent months may be a signal in which direction the market will go. I wonder if this trend will also come to us permanently. On the Vistula River, we have great game developers and studios for whom consolidation may be a chance to spread their wings. On the other hand, we’ve had several examples in history of how acquisitions can be deadly for smaller companies. This shows that consolidation is not a path for everyone. We want to talk about it
During the eighth edition of Gaming on the Stock Exchange, we will try to find an answer to the question: Mergers and acquisitions – how does foreign capital change Polish gamedev? The market of consolidation follows – foreign capital is invested in studies all over the world, companies are taken over and merged into new entities. It all affects the imagination of players, funds, investors and investors from around the world. How will these transactions affect the Polish and global gamedev market in the coming years?
During the conference, we use the extremely simple and intuitive Streamyard technology, provided by Stockwatch.pl. It does not require any external software – just have a cable Internet connection, a webcam and a microphone and click on the shared link. Mateusz Witczak, editor-in-chief of polskigamedev.pl said:
The acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is undoubtedly the most important event in early 2022, but we had much more high-profile buyouts. Great capital – Chinese, but not only – is also hungry for Polish companies; should we think about M&A transactions in terms of opportunities or maybe threats? During the final Gaming conference on the stock exchange , we will ask both business representatives and the creators themselves about it.
The final conference, which will be held on June 8-9, was preceded by a series of investor chats with representatives of Polish gamedev companies listed on the WSE main market, New Connect, and those creators who may be listed in the near future. Speakers in face-to-face conversations, explained their companies ‘strategies, and answered investors’ questions about the current financial reports and plans for the future. Dariusz Mejszutowicz, Deputy Director of the Primary Market Department at the WSE, comments:
Already every tenth company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange operates in the gaming industry. Although the last months have not been an easy time for this market segment, in my opinion it is a kind of a quality test. Companies that can cope with this difficult time will significantly strengthen their position and attract the attention of investors, and at the same time show the size and potential of the entire industry.
As in the case of the final conferences, investor chats are conducted using the intuitive Steamyard platform, provided by the co-organizer – Stockwatch.pl. The event will be hosted by Kamil Klinowski and Mateusz Witczak. Łukasz Konopko, CEO of StockWatch.pl said:
Polish studies have been successful on a global scale. They have been making acquisitions for several years, not only in Poland. CD Projekt has bought a studio in Canada, Ten Square Games has invested in Italy and People Can Fly in the USA. On the other hand, the achievements of Polish creators arouse the interest of global players, a great example of which are the purchases of Tencent from the last six months. The currently observed drops in rates and difficulties in financing projects will favor acquisitions. There will be plenty of topics for discussion
