Positive emotions
Robert Beatty is the author of a series about the adventures of a teenage girl named Serafina. The creator of children’s literature from the very beginning realized that apart from the idea, the most important thing is a marketing campaign. And so, undecided potential readers could plunge into the literary world of Beatty, watching the trailer [1] . I’d say it’s a good idea, but don’t do it while you’re reading it, unless you like someone suggesting a potential ending to the story. In my opinion, the best time to watch the trailer is after reading it.
Disney Hyperion
The discussed first volume of the series is part of the concept of Disney’s fairy tales. Observing the success of the initiating novel Serafina and The Black Coat , the Disney Publishing Worldwide publishing group (by the way, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) decided to sign a contract with Beatty for two more novels in the series. As of 2015, four volumes have been published: Seraph and the Black Cloak (2015), Seraph and the Shapeshifter (2016), Seraph and the Split Heart (2017), and Seraph and the Seven Stars.(2019). Each of them focuses on the adventures of the title character. But be careful! The story is developing very dynamically, so I do not recommend reading the descriptions of the next series, if you have not finished reading the previous ones.
Story meanders
The Biltmore Mansion cellars are full of secrets. Extraordinary creatures also live there – with yellow eyes, four, not five fingers, extremely efficient and unsurpassed in their profession. Seraphine differs from her peers not only because of these (re-) animal qualities, but also because of her specific way of being. As a loner, she learned to be basically self-sufficient, she needs no one but her father to be happy, and in her spare time … chasing rats in the basement of Biltmore. One night, however, he witnesses the kidnapping. Will she find an ally who will believe her story and help catch the criminal? How will her life change once she learns the truth about the estate’s residents? You will learn this from the novel.
Biltmore Estate
It’s amazing that after reading the book, you can visit the place that became the author’s indirect inspiration to create this story. The Biltmore Estate really exists in the USA. The Vanderbilt family, whose representatives also appear in the novel, built it in the 19th century and still owns it. Seraphina and the Black Coat , however, is not the first cultural text in which it appeared. Previously, these were Hannibal , Forrest Gump and One Tree Hill . This is one of the aspects that may attract the attention of a future reader, but in my opinion you should not hesitate for a long time and get drawn into the world of Seraph’s adventures as soon as possible.
