In search of dreams – review of the comic book “Towards your eternity” vol. 4-6

Niesio underwent an amazing transformation in just three volumes. So can the manga created by Yoshitoki Oima still delight as before?

The third volume was definitely calmer. The main character found his place on earth. Additionally, he met many wonderful people. It seemed that he would be able to lead a peaceful and happy life here. Unfortunately, his enemies did not forget about him and so the knockers appeared again. As a result, Niesio had to hit the road in order to develop further and thus gain more strength. This time, the immortal existence in the company of Pioran, as a result of an intrigue, found himself on the island of Yanoma, the place where the worst convicts from around the world were sent.

Arena fights

Invariably, the main character is the immortal being, Niesio. With each volume, he gains more experience and skills, but also loses something. Just as March (something like his mother) had lost, the brotherly bond that had bound him with Gugu would be severed now. This remarkable boy has also changed in four years, and for the better. He’s also been given a new mask that harmonizes perfectly with his strange ability. There is also a love thread in the fourth volume. The next two volumes are a different story related to the condemned island and, above all, the children who were sent there with their parents. Tonari appears with a group of his closest friends. It was they who were the greatest support for Niesia in these difficult moments. Evidently more emphasis was placed on fighting, if only because that one of the criminals’ pastimes was duels to the death. It might seem that the immortal creature will easily win in the arena, but is it really?

The knockers are attacking

Of the new heroes, Tonari stands out above all. Undoubtedly, he has a lot of charisma, he is able to lead his small group for a reason, but he can also hurt older people. What distinguishes the other characters are their dreams, something that Niesio does not have yet.

Eternal wandering

The three volumes discussed are another portion of the journey, new characters, some surprises, and more combat scenes. On the other hand, Niesie’s development is not as spectacular as it was at the beginning. I am a bit worried if the author will manage to surprise me with anything else. Obviously, these six volumes are a closed whole, each part ended so interestingly that I had to reach for the next volume right away. However, the sixth volume is the end of a story, the announcement of another time leap and a completely new story at the same time. I will be waiting for her with both excitement and a little anxiety.

Something ends, something begins

The line can still delight. The characters are precisely drawn, as are the dynamic combat scenes. The release keeps the same level, which means that the somewhat inconsistent page numbering is still offensive. The most important thing, however, is the plot and the characters, and of course we are dealing with a gem in this respect. The story is delightful, sometimes it is full of regret for the death of some of the heroes. The world is cruel and there is no room for many happy moments, and even those few will always be interrupted sooner or later. Towards Your Eternity is a noteworthy series in which it is difficult to find any major flaws.
