Julie Tillet, who is responsible for running the international brand as the responsible representative for Hachette Livre, announced that work is underway on an animation about Idefix, the beloved dog of Asterix and Obelix. The cartoon will appear next year on French television, which will receive 52 episodes lasting 11 minutes each. The first information about the new project appeared at the end of 2018. Now we know the plot and the first graphics.
The action of the series, developed in 3D technology, will take place in Lutèce (fr. Lutèce, ancient Gaul) in 52 BC, two years before Idefix met Obelix. The Romans are trying to take the city, which is not so easy because they encounter the resistance of bands of brave dogs. This is not particularly pleasant for General Labiénus and the pack of Roman dogs who are trying to restore order in Lutetia.
And now for something that wasn’t there before – Idefix will talk! His adventures will be accompanied by new heroes: Padgachiks – a sausage-loving bulldog with a strong character; Turbine, a little naive, but super fast and faithful friend of Idefix and Baratine, a self-confident and independent cat who knows every nook and cranny of Lutetia (and sows terror among the Romans when she shows her nails).
Everything will be dedicated to the youngest viewers. But that’s not all. In the latest issue of Asterix Max magazine , the first comic strip with Idefix in the lead role by Matthieu Choquet and Jean Bastide appeared. The comic, just like the series, is to be called Idéfix et les irréductibles
