I will be a little detective – review of the detective game “Bobble Stories”

Among the games devoid of competition, it is worth highlighting the position that has recently appeared on the publishing market – Bubble Stories . This one-person detective game will surely delight the youngest who choose the places to explore on their own.

Everything is in the bubble

In a tiny box there are 72 cards divided into four sets – each set is a separate adventure; we have 6 green cards with an instructional adventure, 20 orange cards, 22 purple cards, 24 blue cards, a poster and an instruction. Each set also includes Star, Dead End, and Character cards. Importantly, the number of individual cards varies depending on the set. Green cards and an unfolded poster help you understand the rules. First of all, the player should choose a set of cards with an adventure ( Hide and seek at school, Funfair or Pirate Island) that interests him, then take the start card (checkered) and place it facedown on your left side, then take the quest card (with stars) and place this – also facedown – on your right side. The last step is to unfold the remaining cards with the bubbles side up. We’re starting the fun!

For the little ones

Bubble Stories is a game for children from the age of four. It is detective and non-competitive. During the game, we acquire star cards and dead end cards, then we count them and get a result that proves … our adventurer level! The player with 3-4 such cards receives a bronze bubble (lowest level – amateurs), and the holder of 1-2 – a silver bubble (consistently to the goal!). If we don’t catch any dead end cards, we win the game while reaching the highest level.

The creators – Matthew Dunstan and Simon Douchy – propose to play adventures until you get the highest score (which, I admit, can be quite boring …). The gameplay time is surprising, because it is only 10 minutes, which is only 30 minutes of active game.

Bonuses and final review

Some adventures have character cards. People on them indicate the direction in which we must go to continue the adventure and achieve the intended goal. It is a nice add-on that adds variety to the basic gameplay. To sum up, Rebel’s proposal will delight the youngest who will easily understand the mechanics of the game. I think that they will not be eager to improve their results, but they will definitely prove themselves effectively as detectives!
