On February 9, 1981, Thomas William Hiddleston, British theater and film actor, was born. He played his first roles on stage while still a student, and since then he has been a laureate of, among others, Golden Globe and Laurence Olivier Awards.
At the age of 13, he entered the prestigious Eton College, he also graduated in classical philology from the University of Cambridge and, as he himself says, loves reading ancient authors in the original. During his studies, Lorraine Hamilton of the acting agency Hamilton Hodell noticed him in the play A Streetcar Called Lust . In 2005 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
While still a student, he appeared in several television productions, and in 2006 he made his big-screen debut in Unrelated . Then he performed on stage, incl. in Otello , The Changeling and Cymbeline , for which he received the Best Debut of 2008 award. In 2010, he starred in Archipelago .
His career breakthrough was his engagement in the adaptation of Thor (2011), where he was applying for the title role, but director Kenneth Branagh saw him as the half-brother of the thunder god Loki. It turned out to be a bull’s eye, because viewers around the world fell in love with this creation. As a god of mischief, he also appeared in Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019) r.), and in May he will return in his own series on the Disney + platform.
In addition to Loki, Tom Hiddleston also played m.in. F. Scott Fitzgerald in Midnight in Paris (2011), Captain Nicholls in Times of War (2011), Adam in Only Lovers Survive (2013), Sir Thomas Sharpe in Crimson Peak. Blood Hill (2015), Jonathan Pine in The Night Receptionist (2016), and Captain James Conrad in Kong: Skull Island (2017). He is also known for his theatrical roles, for example the title Coriolanus from 2013 or Robert in Betrayal (2019).
