How to position the egg vertically? – review of the board game “Egg of Columbus”

The Egg of Columbus is one of the many interesting puzzles available on the market. Will it be as delightful as the previously reviewed Zip City ? Or is she destined to be drowned in the sheer volume of such items?

 

The puzzle with the egg?

The Egg of Columbus is a puzzle that resembles sudoku in its assumptions, except that there are colors instead of numbers. In addition, each task has different requirements. While in sudoku the goal is always the same, that is, it can never be vertical, horizontal or square of the same number, in the Egg of Columbus everything depends on the command. Namely, we have given information on how many eggs and in what color should be in a given row and column. Then it remains to find a starting point and solve the task.

The first ten challenges are simply clichéd. You immediately know where to put four eggs of the same color. In fact, the real challenge does not start until the fifth difficulty level. For me, the last task number 40 was the one that caused me the biggest problem. After solving all the puzzles, I can say that it went a little too fast. In fact, after three days, I finished the game. This is the biggest drawback of this position. Half of the tasks can be solved in one minute, and after completing all of them, there’s nothing interesting to do here. In the case of such a Zip City , it was not only about solving the task, but also about the fun of watching the rolling balls. Not only that, you could come back to this item from the Logi Quest series to create your own layout. WhereasThe Egg of Columbus runs out too soon. At least twice as many tasks would be good. For the youngest it will be a challenge just right, for the older ones, in my opinion, sudoku will be better.

A small box in a large box

I complained a bit about replayability, and for a change, I would like the release. The large box contains a smaller, more handy container for all components, which is also used for the game. The cardboard packaging can therefore be thrown into the garbage, and the Egg of Columbus can be squeezed even on a full shelf. The title eggs are large, they look nice on the board. I have nothing to complain about. The puzzle is so handy that you can take it on a trip and even play it on the train. Although in the case of a longer trip, I am afraid that the fun will end halfway.

Is it worth solving the Columbus puzzle?

I enjoyed solving these puzzles. The first two levels for me were too easy, had I not taken this game for review, I suppose I would have skipped a few tasks. Only the last sixteen challenges are much more interesting. However, compared to, for example, Zip City , the Egg of Columbus game performs poorly. Nevertheless, you can spend some time on Rebel’s new puzzle and strain the gray cells. Although I will not hide that even before writing the review, I started thinking about selling this item. I just don’t see any reason to keep coming back to her. However, I have no doubts that it will surely be a good gift for a child who likes to solve all sorts of puzzles.
