This year, many of us have a problem with whether to go to the seaside (or the mountains), as inflation is raging and wages are not rising. For people who like games and family entertainment, but who will not go to the water, a new title from Rebel will be an interesting solution.
Ry-Bitwa is a pleasant arcade title, perfect both as a holiday fun for adults at a party, and as a form of activity for children aged 4+ (although the box contains information about a group from 6 years old). The plot is simple: the participants are divided into two teams and play the roles of birds fighting for delicious sea bites.
Don’t jump terns!
The board game consists of three mats (in terms of material similar to mouse pads) with water zones drawn on them. There is a coast with a piece of beach, a shallow entrance to the sea and a deep area. The set includes 3 large discs depicting the animals of prey: crab, octopus and fish. The main items in the game are heavier chips in sets of 12, similar to the ones we know from the casino, in green and red colors (because there are two teams planned in the rules) with heroes of birds drawn. What’s more fun – the poultry has been styled straight from gangs and they are closer to the types from the dark star than standard gulls or terns. The last component is a three-element fold-out screen, which reduces the risk that the thrown chips will fly somewhere further (or they will be ordered from the table if there is a competition on it).
Who will eat the crab and who will eat the fish?
The rules of the game really boil down to throwing accurately. A team member holds the chips and stands within the set distance from the mats, after which the game or throwing begins. The game lasts two rounds, and the goal is to score as many points as possible, these are added for taking control of prey and water zones. All chips that fall off the mats or do not land on them are out of the game, so people with a poor target have a harder time in this game. The scoring instruction is literally a page and a half (all rules are about three), so nothing too complicated here.
Barrel of laughter and evidence of squint
A decisive advantage of this title is its high level of interaction between the players (you can adopt various throwing strategies, block opponents’ targets, etc.). It is a lot of fun especially when a person is trying, but the chips still fly sideways or decide to bounce off the mat and land on the floor. Another plus, of course, for simplicity, because when we want to reach for a quick and easy game, Ry-Bitwa is perfect.
Unfortunately, I have to mention an underdeveloped element – the screen and the way of hiding the game into the box are not well thought out. The three parts of the cardboard with which we surround the mats quickly tear and break, while the mats unfold in the box and it is not easy to roll them up properly to keep the whole package properly in the package.
– Mom, I want to go to the seaside!
– We have the sea at home.
The overall impression of Ry – Battles is very good. The game evokes positive emotions (except for the moment when you have to hide it after playing) and despite the recommendations of the creators, you can easily offer it to younger children.
