The cannibals are attacking
The Land of Your Sons is another story set in a post-apocalyptic world. This time, however, it does not matter how the civilization was destroyed. The most important thing is the relationship between the survivors – two sons and their father. In the times described, there is no place for tenderness. Surviving at all costs is what counts, and that means you have to be tough. This is the rule of the boys’ father who often reaches for a stick. However, what will happen when these young men are left alone in the world? This is where the main part of the story begins. Fanatical cannibals appear, crazy twins …
A notebook written by the father plays an important role in the comic book. The man never taught his sons to read (why the ability to read and write in the post-apocalypse world?), So the text he wrote is something magical for boys. The reader, however, is unable to find out what was written in the notebook. We only see dashes, stamps that have no meaning. Great theme that provokes questions. Will the sons find out what their father thought of them? Are there still people who can read in this world?
Fight for existence
Only a handful of heroes appear in the comic. In addition to the father and sons, we also meet the Witch, the aforementioned twins, the “maid”, Aringo and a whole group of cannibals led by the Uberkpriest. One of the brothers is willing to break the rules set by his hated father. This is the type of adventurer. His brother, on the other hand, is a more docile and calm man. “Twin hydrocephalus” is crazy and dangerous. Interestingly, for most of the heroes, we don’t even know their names. When a father addresses his sons, he most often uses offensive terms, such as imbeciles.

Their sons’ land has been released in a hardcover. As this is a story about the world after the apocalypse, the author decided it was better not to color the pictures. The dash is specific. It seems dirty, chaotic, unfinished, but it fits well with the story.
Is there a place for parental love in the post-apocalyptic world?
Gipi, the author of the comic book, does not talk about the world before the apocalypse in his work. We don’t know what happened or why. It is completely irrelevant. The most important here are the heroes and their relationships, as well as the theme of the diary. Although certain themes have appeared many times in other literary works (eg The Way – the father-son relationship, The Book of Salvation – a written work), they were neatly combined in the Land of their sons . The told story can engage and move. It is worth going on this journey with brothers to find out that even in a world full of violence, there is still room for human reflexes and emotions.
