House of the Dragon debuted last year, and the first season was a huge success for HBO. The Game of Thrones spin-off already won Outstanding Drama Series earlier this year, and fans can’t wait to see how it fares at the Emmys in September.

In the meantime, the show’s producers took home several other statuettes. Recently, the BAFTA Television Craft Awards gala took place, and the House of Dragon won three awards during the ceremony.

At the BAFTA Television Craft Awards, the series won the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, which went to Amanda Knight, Barrie Gower and Rosalia Culora. The series also won Best Sound Award for Alastair Sirkett, Doug Cooper, Martin Seeley, Paula Fairfield, Tim Hands and Adele Fletcher. Finally, the show picked up the award for Best Special Effects, Visuals and Graphics, which went to Angus Bickerton, Nikeah Forde, Asa Shoul, Mike Dawson, MPC and Pixomodo.

Currently, the show’s second season has no release date, but is expected to return in 2024. Production on the new season began earlier this month, and showrunner Ryan Condal recently said it would pick up right where the first season left off.

At the end of the season, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) was to become the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, appointed by her late father – King Viserys (Paddy Constantine). Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) crowns her son Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) as the new king. The season ends with one of Alicent’s sons killing one of Rhaenyra’s children, essentially starting a war that is set to blossom in season two.
