Clive Barker was born on October 5, 1952. He is not only one of the most famous horror and dark fantasy writers, but also a painter, screenwriter, director, visual artist and actor.
He is simply a versatile and highly talented artist. In his art, he reaches for the deepest obsessions, fears, and the most camouflaged thoughts.
He was born in Liverpool, UK. When he was a few years old, he saw the fall and death of paratrooper Léo Valentin, which left a permanent mark on his psyche. During his studies he became interested in theater and wrote several plays, he was also a co-founder of a theater group in 1978.
He began writing fantasy and horror stories and novels as early as 1984. When the Books of Blood collection of short stories was released , Sam Stephen King chose him as his successor. This series has 6 volumes. His other books are: Return from Hell, The Story of Mr B., Imajica, Kobierzec, The Night Tribe , the Abarat cycle , the Book of Art series and many others. Barker wrote scripts, including for Underworld (1985) and Rawhead Rex (1986). He directed Hellraiser (1987), based on his novel The Hellbound Heart, and even directed a music video for a song by Motörhead Hellraiser (1992). He also worked on comics, e.g.Hellraiser. It is difficult to mention at least some of his rich achievements. And more works are in preparation.
When it comes to private life, despite several brief relationships with women, Barker identifies himself as homosexual.
I have a normal set of anxiety, neurosis, psychosis and anything else – but I’m not anyone special –
this is what Clive Barker tells about her life. And adds:
Be average and orderly in your life so that you can be aggressive and original in your work –
What do you think of such advice? Do you think it is right?
