Some love him, others hate him. How did Severus Snape deserve such extreme opinions among the Potterheads?
The hero was born on January 9, 1960 in Cokeworth, the son of a witch and a Muggle. From the beginning, his life was not a bed of roses, his parents were still arguing and the house was not overflowing. As a young boy, he became friends with Lily Evans, who lived nearby and was raised by ordinary people who had nothing to do with his unique abilities. At the age of 11, like her, he got a letter from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and began his education. He was assigned to the home of Salazar Slytherin, famous for his purity of blood and dislike of Muggles. He was still trying to be friends with Lily, placed by the Gryffindor Sorting Hat, and his feelings quickly grew into love. At school, he quickly became an enemy of James Potter and his friends who mistreated Severus, whenever the opportunity arose. He was always defended by Lily, who also liked James. During one of their quarrels with the Gryffindors, Snape insulted his friend and their relationship ended. The Slytherin began hanging out with future Death Eaters, becoming more and more interested in the Dark Arts, and Lily finally gave up James, whom she later married. Severus’ feelings, however, never faded away.
After graduating from school, he joined the Dark Lord permanently, but everything changed when he heard about Voldemort’s plans to murder the entire Potter family, along with his beloved Lily. He then begged Dumbledore for help in saving her and thus became a double agent. Though everyone knew him as Voldemort’s servant, his loyalty was always with the Order of the Phoenix. Lily, who had been betrayed by one of her friends, could not be saved, but her son, Harry, survived the attack. When the boy got to Hogwarts, Snape was one of the teachers and also the guardian of Slytherin. From the beginning, he abused Harry, who reminded him of his past with James Potter. His hatred of the boy was also intensified by the fact that it was because of him that Lord Voldemort decided to kill their entire family, which resulted in the death of Lily, whom he still loved.Harry Potter . Some people defend Snape by talking about his devotion to the cause and the great love that was the source of the hero’s suffering and justifies his deeds. Others say that Snape, as an adult and teacher, should distance his feelings and the fact that he was unhappily in love does not explain his abuse of a child who did not influence what happened in the past.
Their relationship changed with the Battle of Hogwarts, during which the Dark Lord murdered Severus. In his last moments, he shared his memories with Harry, revealing to him the real reasons why he joined the wizard. The boy found out that his whole life was protected by Snape, who loved his mother immensely until his death. After his war ended, Harry made sure that Severus’ heroism was appreciated by openly speaking of his sacrifice. He also named one of his sons after him.
Recently, Severus Snape has also become the star of our Tavern, taking part in the Magic Games for the Golden Staff. Thanks to his fans, he made it to the finals, where he faced Gandalf himself. However, he lost this duel, but a special comic was created to commemorate this event.
