Captain Knykieć – Unusual cases of Flapjack
Flapjack’s Remarkable Cases is an animated series recorded between 2008 and 2010. The cartoon offered a large dose of black humor, which was also aimed at older audiences. Polish viewers could watch it on the Cartoon Network channel. Its main character is Flapjack, a boy raised by a whale. On his way he meets a pirate, Captain Knykć. He talks about his extraordinary adventures, instilling in the young man the desire to go on long journeys. Of course Knykieć made most of his adventures, but he never admits it. In addition, he is selfish, insidious and addicted to sweetness. His body is almost entirely prosthetic. He would probably have abandoned Flapjack long ago if he were not afraid of his whale mother, who watches over her pupil and gets both companions out of their many troubles. Although the whole series is very abstract and absurd, it’s impossible not to like its characters. And Captain Knykć could not be missing from our list. –Piotr Markiewicz
